Kamsa, the evil king of Mathura called the demon king Arishtasura and ordered him to kill Krishna. After swirling the bull in midair by his horns, he kills the bull by throwing him on the ground. From the dead body of the bull, the soul of a man named Varatantu arose. He had once approached the god Brahaspati to take him as a disciple. After sitting with his toes facing the god once, disrespected, the god cursed him to turn into a demon in the form of a bull. Krishna broke this curse by freeing him form his mortal body.
